Job description for Legal & Compliance Junior Officer at Bamboo Village Trust
The Legal & Compliance Junior Staff will provide support in legal and compliance matters within the NGO, ensuring the organization adheres to applicable laws and internal policies. Reporting to the Legal & Compliance Supervisor, this role will assist in maintaining legal documentation, conducting legal research, supporting compliance efforts, and helping the organization navigate regulatory requirements. The position plays a key role in helping ensure legal and operational integrity while supporting the NGO’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Documentation:
- Assist in drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements, memorandums, and other legal documents.
- Ensure proper filing and maintenance of legal documents and records.
Compliance Monitoring:
- Support the implementation and monitoring of compliance programs to ensure adherence to internal policies and regulations.
- Assist in ensuring the organization complies with labor laws, donor requirements, and NGO-specific regulations.
Legal Research:
- Conduct research on laws, regulations, and best practices related to the NGO sector, both locally and internationally.
- Provide legal summaries and updates on regulatory changes that may affect the organization.
Contract Management:
- Assist in the administration and tracking of contracts, ensuring all legal obligations are met and renewals are managed in a timely manner.
Risk Management Support:
- Help identify potential legal and compliance risks in the organization’s operations.
- Assist in the development of solutions to mitigate risks and ensure legal safety.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and submit regular reports on legal and compliance matters, including risk assessments and compliance status updates.
- Maintain an organized database of legal, compliance, and regulatory files.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or a related field.
- Minimum 2 year of experience in a legal or compliance role, preferably within an NGO or non-profit sector.
- Basic knowledge of contract law, compliance regulations, and legal documentation.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret legal texts and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal software.
- Willing to work in office in BALI
Preferred
• Experience working in the NGO or non-profit sector.
• Familiarity with local and international laws related to the NGO field.
• Strong communication skills in both written and verbal formats.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
