Job description for IT Supervisor at Bamboo Village Trust
The IT Supervisor will manage and oversee the IT infrastructure and operations to ensure the smooth running of all technology systems within the organization. This role will focus on maintaining network security, supporting the implementation of IT projects, ensuring data integrity, and providing technical support to all staff. The IT Supervisor will also be responsible for ensuring that IT solutions align with the organization’s mission and operational needs, particularly in facilitating donor relations, grant management, and overall efficiency in daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- IT Infrastructure Management:
- Oversee the daily operation of IT infrastructure, including network systems, hardware, and software.
- Ensure optimal functioning of servers, databases, and communication networks to support organizational goals.
2. Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide day-to-day technical support to staff for all IT-related issues.
- Manage troubleshooting and problem resolution for hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner.
3. Data Security and Integrity:
- Implement and monitor security protocols to protect the organization’s data and IT systems.
- Ensure data backups, disaster recovery plans, and system restorations are in place and regularly updated.
4. IT Project Management:
- Assist in the planning, execution, and completion of IT projects that support organizational initiatives, including upgrading systems and implementing new technologies.
- Collaborate with departments to implement IT solutions that improve operational efficiency.
5. Vendor and Supplier Management:
- Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers to ensure timely delivery of services and supplies.
- Negotiate contracts for purchasing hardware, software, and other IT services.
6. System Updates and Maintenance:
- Ensure that all software and systems are up-to-date with the latest patches and updates.
- Plan and execute system upgrades and maintenance to minimize downtime.
7. Training and Development:
- Develop and provide IT training programs for staff to enhance their technical skills.
- Promote best practices in IT usage and data security across the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in IT roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory position, preferably within the NGO or non-profit sector.
- Strong understanding of network management, server infrastructure, cybersecurity, and database administration.
- Experience in troubleshooting and providing technical support in a multi-user environment.
- Strong knowledge of data security and privacy regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred
- Certifications in relevant IT areas such as CompTIA, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE).
- Experience with NGO-specific software systems and platforms (e.g., grant management software, donor databases).
- Familiarity with cloud computing technologies and services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
