Job description for IT & AI Automation Specialist at SKY LEADER FREIGHT (SINGAPORE) PTE LTD
>> SKY LEADER FREIGHT (SLF) is an IATA-accredited multimodal freight forwarder (Air · Sea · Land) headquartered in Singapore with an operational office in Jakarta.
We're a tech-enabled supply chain partner specializing in pharma/perishables and intra-ASEAN lanes, and we're building out our internal automation capability. We're looking for someone based in Jakarta to own that build.
>> ABOUT THE ROLE
We move a lot of information manually between systems that don't talk to each other — freight details land in an inbox, get re-typed into our Freight Management System (FMS), then re-typed again into permit or customs portals.
You'll be the person who builds the bridges between these systems, so our team stops doing the same data entry three times over.
This is a hands-on, build-and-ship role, not a "manage vendors" role. You'll be working directly with our Jakarta operations and customer service teams to understand their workflows, then designing and building the automations that fix them.
>> WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Build integrations that pull structured data out of emails (rate requests, shipment instructions, permit confirmations) and push it directly into our FMS via API, removing manual re-entry.
• Design and build connectors between our FMS, permit/licensing portals, and other third-party systems.
• Apply AI/LLM tools where they genuinely reduce manual work (e.g. parsing unstructured emails into structured data) — balanced with reliable, deterministic automation where that's the better tool.
• Map existing manual workflows across import, export, and customer service functions to find automation opportunities.
• Work closely with Ops/CS staff to pilot, test, and refine automations against real day-to-day use — not just build and walk away
• Maintain and troubleshoot automations in production; this includes handling edge cases when a portal changes its layout or an airline updates its rate format
• Document what's built so it's maintainable by someone other than you
>> WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent demonstrated experience without the degree
• Some experience building integrations, automations, or internal tools — ideally including real API integration work, not only no-code/RPA platform configuration
• Comfortable working with REST APIs, webhooks, and structured/unstructured data parsing
• Practical experience with (or strong aptitude for) LLM-based tools for document/email parsing
• Scripting proficiency (Python or similar) for building and maintaining custom automations
• Freight forwarding, logistics, or other operations-heavy industry background is a plus but not required — what matters more is the ability to sit with an ops team, understand the manual process, and turn it into something automated
• Profiency in English; able to read, write and communicate effectively in English for international co-ordination
• Comfortable working independently
>>PERKS AND BENEFITS
• Global Brand Experience: Hands on data dealings with enterprise-level supply chain tools (Samsung, NERP and CELLO)
• International Exposure: Regular collaboration with our Singapore team.
• Career Growth: Opportunities to take on larger responsibilities in regional logistics
• Comprehensive Benefits: Competitive Salry and health coverage.
