Hostess – Duties & Responsibilities
1. Guest Greeting & Welcoming
- Warmly greet guests upon arrival with professional hospitality.
- Provide first impression that reflects the restaurant’s service standards.
- Assist guests with inquiries about the menu, promotions, or special events.
2. Reservation & Seating Management
- Manage daily reservations, waiting lists, and guest flow.
- Organize seating plans to maximize table turnover and guest comfort.
- Inform guests about estimated waiting times and updates.
3. Coordination with Service Team
- Communicate guest preferences, special requests, and seating status to the service captain and servers.
- Coordinate with kitchen and bar regarding guest volume and peak hours.
- Support smooth communication between front-of-house team members.
4. Guest Experience Monitoring
- Conduct quick check-ins with guests to ensure comfort while waiting or seated.
- Assist with table check preparation when needed (menu placement, water greeting).
- Handle minor guest issues and escalate to a supervisor if necessary.
5. Lobby & Reception Area Management
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the reception, lobby, and menu display area.
- Ensure all host desk tools (reservation log, waiting list, pager system) are well-organized.
- Keep menus, promotional materials, and QR codes clean and ready.
6. Administrative Tasks
- Record guest counts, peak times, and reservation summaries.
- Update daily reservation logs and special arrangement notes.
- Assist with reporting guest feedback to management.
7. Service Support (If Needed)
- Assist servers during peak hours (menu handout, escorting guests, clearing minimal items).
- Communicate any urgent issues directly to the service captain or manager.
