Job description for Full-time Lecturer in Management at Trường Đại học Việt Đức

The Vietnamese-German University (VGU) is seeking a highly qualified full-time lecturer in Management. Candidates must hold a PhD in this field or a closely related field and have a strong background in research. Relevant international experience is of advantage. The successful candidate will become part of an international network of universities and research institutes.
Teaching Responsibilities
The teaching obligation will be 8 academic hours per week on average and based on VGU's internal regulation.
Party B is expected to :
- Assure teaching and learning of high quality;
- Offer consulting hours to students for individual academic advice;
- Prepare, conduct and assess examinations according to the general and program specific examination regulations; The evaluation of the examinations shall not exceed 6 weeks. The evaluation has to be reported comprehensively in a protocol to Academic and Student Affairs Department and the faculty. In case there is any difference from the examination regulation and internal regulations of VGU, these regulations shall be prevailed.
- Act as a mentor for bachelor's and master's theses;
- Supervise PhD theses according to the general doctoral regulations;
- Develop lectures, tutorials, exercises, organize and attend seminars and workshops;
- Coordinate and support curriculum development, and quality assurance.
Research responsibilities
The lecturer should conduct research independently, is responsible to attract sponsors, funds for research, is aware of intellectual property and ethics matters; develop network and international collaboration with other national/international institutes on scientific research.
- The lecturer has to spend at least 50% of total standard working time on scientific research. It is expected that Party B contributes to VGU's scientific reputation by frequent publication. The research requirement should be fulfilled based on the lecturer regulation and research regulation of VGU.
Administrative responsibilities
- Contribute to participate in the university's management: propose nomination, to be candidate and cast a vote for internal committees of VGU according to the VGU's charter. The lecturer shall be responsible actively for participating in VGU's academic self-government structures, e.g. as member of faculty council, faculty board, senate, nomination committees.
- Participate in student recruitment activities as required.
- Besides of participating in lecturing, research, the lecturer is also responsible for contributing to the development of the other study programs of VGU as required.
- The lecturer shall be responsible for administrative tasks, e.g. coordination of research proposals, budgeting, and conference organization.
- The lecturer is responsible for participating in capacity development of VGU: instruct junior lecturers and RTAs; Support the establishment of research units, centers.
- University development contribution: the lecturer is responsible for enhancing the image of the University and support internal collaboration. Other relevant tasks as regulated under Decision no. 161/QĐ-VGU dated 18 October 2016 on issuing the Categorization System of Academic Staff at VGU,  internal regulations of VGU and other tasks as assigned by Presidential Board and Board of Faculty.
Qualification
Doctoral or PhD degree in related disciplines
In-depth knowledge of organization and operation of a study program at Vietnamese or German universities Proven knowledge of didactics in higher education
  • English: at least equivalent to IELTS 6.5
  • Knowing German is an advantage Excellent in office softwares (Word, Excel, PPT,…)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent written and presentation skills
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Experience of public speaking
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to understand and analyse data and produce coherent reports to present to senior management
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to present in formation to groups as well as individuals
  • Strong problem resolution skills
  • Strong managerial abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • At least 3 years of lecturing and research experience after PHD
  • At least 3 international peer reviewed articles At least 1 year of industrial experience
  • Capacity to work under pressure to tight deadlines Willingness to spend periods away from home (overnights) and to work some unsocial hours (evening and weekends)
