Job description for Freelance Game Developer at Magnus Digital Indonesia
We are on the hunt for a talented game designer with a passion for all genres of games, a knack for coding and storytelling, and an understanding of the industry, market and target audiences.
What You’ll Do
- Planning out and iterating on all parts of the design process including, but not limited to: level flow, engagement design, gameplay scripting, pacing and narrative design
- Hands-on working in game engine including building and scripting levels and gameplay
- Breaking down the needs and requirements of game levels and features and clearly articulating these to the wider team to guide development
- Collaborating with cross discipline teams on gameplay, world building, storytelling, and creating exciting, innovative and engaging levels
- Prototype design ideas in the Unity Engine or any tool of preference and rapidly iterate on them based on feedback from internal stakeholders, playtests, and data collection
- Playtest and tune gameplay systems using a combination of custom built game engine tools and spreadsheet data
- Develop and own a feature or major gameplay design from inception through release
- Working closely with the creative team, technical team and the project team on creating an unforgettable player experience
What You Bring To The Role:
- 2 - 4 years of experience in gameplay design, game mechanics and game economies
- Ability to implement game from big ideas, prototype and tune gameplay using the Unity Engine or other equivalent game engine
- Strong and concise communicator of game concepts, multi-player and open-world concepts
- Ability to create GDD (Game Design Document), create presentation for gameplay experiences and game mechanics using visual mocks, clear instructions, data and references
- Capable of receiving valid feedback and adjusting design choices accordingly, but strong enough to back your own ideas and opinions
- Good understanding of video game development, software development processes, and project management practices
- An understanding of the metaverse and Web3
