As a Finance Accounting Specialist, you will play a crucial role in establishing and maintaining the financial systems that will support the company’s rapid growth. This role demands a high level of problem-solving and critical thinking skills to navigate complex financial challenges, as well as the ability to design and implement efficient financial processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. *Financial System Development*:
- Design and implement robust financial systems and processes that align with the startup’s growth objectives.
- Automate accounting and financial reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop internal controls to ensure data integrity and compliance with relevant regulations.
2. Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare, analyze, and present accurate financial reports to the executive team.
- Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify areas for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and revenue growth.
3. Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Lead the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
- Develop financial forecasts and projections to guide long-term planning.
- Monitor budget adherence and make adjustments as necessary.
4. Problem Solving & Critical Thinking:
- Tackle complex financial issues by analyzing data, considering multiple perspectives, and implementing innovative solutions.
- Address any discrepancies in financial records with thorough investigation and resolution.
- Provide strategic recommendations to the executive team based on financial analysis and insights.
5. Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial regulations.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring the startup’s financial stability and growth.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
6. Cash Flow Management:
- Oversee cash flow planning and ensure that funds are available for operational needs.
- Optimize the startup’s cash position by managing working capital efficiently.
- Implement strategies to enhance liquidity and support business growth.
7. Stakeholder Communication:
- Communicate financial results, risks, and opportunities to key stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business objectives with financial insights.
- Build strong relationships with investors, lenders, and other external partners.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA, CFA, or similar certification preferred.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in finance or accounting roles, ideally within a startup or high-growth environment.
- Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities.
- Proficient in financial software and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, ERP systems).
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
