Job description for Fashion Designer (Non-Muslim Women's Wear) at PT TERA FASHION INDONESIA

Working Hours: Monday to Saturday, 08:00 - 17:00 (Mandatory Requirement)

About the Role:

We are a fast-growing e-commerce fashion brand specializing in dresses designed for young, trendy women aged 20-30. We are seeking a Product Development expert with a deep understanding of the local Indonesian market. Your primary responsibility will be to optimize sample garments and bring them to commercial reality. You will be responsible for sourcing samples (locally or internationally), modifying them (sizing, fit, fabric) according to Indonesian body shapes and trends, and managing the entire production process by liaising with local factories.

Key Responsibilities:

I. Market Research & Product Selection

1. Data-Driven Planning: Develop phased product plans aligned with the brand's identity and market potential, based on e-commerce backend sales data, competitor bestseller analysis, and local trends (colors, fabrics, silhouettes).

2. Product Selection: Select sample garments from various channels (suppliers, markets, online references) and evaluate their potential to become bestsellers in the local market.

II. Sample Optimization & Technical Development

1. End-to-End Development: Manage the entire process from sample sourcing, fabric & trim sourcing (local market), and sample development to creating comprehensive Tech Packs.

2. Pattern Modification & Grading: Optimize and adjust existing samples or reference garments provided by the company. Modify measurements, fit, and construction details to ensure the fit is appropriate for young Indonesian women. Source and replace fabrics/trims to enhance quality or reduce costs without compromising the design intent.

3. Costing & Efficiency: Collaborate closely with the team to achieve target landed costs and maintain healthy profit margins. Proactively identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement by optimizing processes, adjusting material usage, or reducing unnecessary steps, ensuring price competitiveness without sacrificing the wearing experience.

III. Production Management & Supplier Coordination

1. Factory Liaison: Act as the bridge between the company and garment factories, clearly communicating fit adjustments, technical challenges, and production schedules.

2. Small-Qty Production: Source and manage suitable small to medium-sized factories capable of flexibly handling small Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs) for e-commerce testing and quick reorders.

3. Risk Management: Anticipate production bottlenecks (e.g., fabric wastage, delay in PP sample approval). Deeply participate in fitting sessions, provide clear correction instructions, and ensure bulk production quality meets the approved sample standard.

4. Timeline Management: Work backward from launch dates to set production schedules, motivating factories to keep pace with the fast e-commerce rhythm and ensuring on-time delivery.

IV. Quality Control & Feedback Loop

1. Product Experience: Conduct quality inspections from a consumer perspective (including wash tests, wearing comfort, stretch recovery tests, etc.).

2. Iterative Optimization: Analyze customer return data and feedback to apply improvements in fit and construction for subsequent production batches.

Requirements:

Mandatory Qualifications:

1. Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree or higher in Fashion Design or a related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in women's fashion, with at least 2 years specifically in an e-commerce or fast-fashion environment.

2. Technical Skills: Proficient in pattern making and grading for women's dresses. Strong understanding of fabric properties (drape, shrinkage, colorfastness). Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop is required to create clear Tech Packs.

3. Local Supply Chain Knowledge: Deep familiarity with local fabric and trim markets (e.g., Tanah Abang, Pasar Pagi) and possess a network of local garment factories/workshops.

4. Business sensitivity: Ability to interpret e-commerce data to guide modifications or reorder decisions.

Core Competencies:

• Supply Chain Mindset: You understand that a beautiful sample has no value if it cannot be mass-produced on time. You prioritize cost control and efficiency, with a strong respect for production lead times.

• Quick response manufacturing: Experience collaborating with factories that accept small batch orders and ability to handle challenges in quick-turnaround production.

• Problem-Solver: Ability to negotiate effectively with factories, resolve technical issues on-site, and find the optimal balance between design vision and production reality.

• Adaptability: Ability to thrive in the fast-paced e-commerce environment, accept Saturday work schedules, and flexibly arrange time for frequent factory or market visits.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience developing both woven and knitted dresses.

• Proven track record of creating bestsellers or multiple successful styles.

• English communication skills (written/verbal) to liaise with overseas suppliers when needed.

• Candidates with connections to small/medium factories willing to accept small batch orders will be prioritized.

Portfolio Requirements:

Please be sure to attach your portfolio or links to products you have developed. The content should ideally demonstrate:

1. A comparison between the original reference garment and the final bulk product (to showcase your modification skills).

2. Examples of Tech Packs you have created.
