Job description for EFL/STEAM-H/ECE Facilitator at Bali Children Foundation

Bali Children Foundation (BCF): Education to Employment

Starting in 2002, BCF has worked one village at a time to help poor, remote or disaster-impacted villages. After identifying a village with disadvantaged families, our local staff members work together with the village leaders to introduce families to BCF and the opportunities our scholarships and curriculum provide.

Our vision is for disadvantaged communities in Bali and nearby islands to become socially, economically and culturally empowered through the pathway of education to employment. Our mission is to improve the education standards for children living in disadvantaged regions of Bali and nearby islands so that they can achieve better incomes for themselves, their families and broader communities.

BCF’s work to provide quality education in remote government SDN schools includes the provision of curriculum, some direct teaching and extensive teacher training across schools in Bali, Lombok and West Sumba.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Training Needs Assessment

● Design and conduct comprehensive needs assessment surveys for teacher training with teachers, school principals or their representatives, and local education authorities.

● Analyze findings to identify gaps and training priorities for English as a Foreign Language (EFL), Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics and Humanities (STEAM-H), and Early Childhood Education (ECE) programs.

● Compile needs assessment reports and share with relevant stakeholders.

2. Planning and Scheduling

● Coordinate with schools, local education offices, and school supervisors to develop detailed training schedules.

● Ensure alignment of training timelines with the academic calendar and local events.

● Prepare logistics plans in collaboration with internal admin and program teams.

● Design the teacher training budget forecast.

3. Training Material Development

● Design and adapt teacher training modules, assessments and materials aligned with national standards, local contexts and BCF’s visions and missions.

● Integrate pedagogical best practices in EFL, STEAM-H, and ECE.

● Utilize digital tools and resources where appropriate to enhance training content.

● Research and co-create teacher training materials with relevant stakeholders, ensuring the training addresses the needs and goals.

4. Delivery of Teacher Training

● Facilitate engaging and practical teacher training sessions for target teachers in all program areas.

● Employ participatory and adult-learning methodologies during sessions.

● Provide post-training support and mentoring, including classroom visits and feedback.

5. Training of Trainers (ToT)

● Identify and train key personnel from government education offices to serve as co-trainers or resource persons.

● Conduct training for trainers to government representatives to deliver the teacher training under their supervision.

● Build capacity of local trainers to ensure program sustainability.

6. Monitoring and Evaluation

● Collaborate with local government and school supervisors to conduct joint monitoring visits to schools.

● Observe teacher practices, gather feedback, and support continuous professional improvement.

● Conduct pre- and post-training assessments to measure impact and changes in teacher competencies.

7. Reporting and Documentation

● Prepare regular reports on training activities, participant feedback, and challenges faced.

● Document success stories, case studies, and training highlights.

● Contribute to donor and programmatic reports as required.

● Monitor the assets in the intervention schools.

8. Partnership and Collaboration

● Maintain strong and positive relationships with school leaders, local government officials, school supervisors, and education stakeholders.

● Collaborate closely with internal staff including education Lead, Program Implementation Lead, and Data team.

● Represent the organization in external meetings and training-related forums.

Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English Education, TESOL, Early Childhood, Primary Education, Science/STEM or related field.

● Proven experience in teacher training, particularly in EFL, STEAM-H, and/or ECE.
