Job description for DevOps & Developer Experience Intern at Temucita

About Temucita

Temucita is an AI startup running on AWS Bedrock, Aurora PostgreSQL, Next.js, NestJS, FastAPI, and Prisma. Our product is live in production. Our engineering team is small and growing fast.

Because we are growing fast, we are rebuilding how we work: how code gets in, how quality is enforced, and how a new developer becomes productive without needing to ask someone every hour. This role exists to build that system.

Why this role exists

We are hiring more developers in the coming months. Before they arrive, we want the rails in place: a pipeline that automatically checks every code change, a testing environment separated from production, documentation people can actually follow, and a clear way of working.

Our CTO designs the standards and the architecture. You turn them into a system that actually runs.

What you will work on

• Build CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions: automated checks on every pull request (lint, type check, tests, build) and automated deployment to the dev environment

• Set up static code analysis and formatting (ESLint, Prettier, strict TypeScript, Ruff/Black for Python) with pre-commit hooks

• Set up testing infrastructure: unit test harness (Jest/Vitest for TypeScript, coverage reporting, and reference tests the team can copy

• Set up E2E tests with Playwright for our most critical user flows

• Separate our development and production environments on AWS: configuration, secret management, database, and seed data

• Configure automated PR review, PR templates, and branch protection rules

• Set up Jira: workflows, issue types, ticket templates, and GitHub integration

• Write and organize engineering documentation: setup guides, runbooks, and an onboarding doc that gets a new developer to their first merged PR within two days

What we are looking for

• Final-year student (semester 6+) in Computer Science / Informatics or related, a fresh graduate, or a bootcamp graduate with a real portfolio

• Comfortable with Git and GitHub: branching, pull requests, resolving conflicts, reading history

• Able to read and write TypeScript/JavaScript. You don’t need to be an expert, but you must be able to understand code written by others

• Have written automated tests before, even for a personal or university project

• Understand Docker basics and how containers work

• Comfortable reading technical documentation in English

• You can write clearly. We work async, and your writing is your primary way of communicating

• Able to work independently with minimal supervision, and know when to ask for help

Bonus points

• Experience with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or any CI/CD tooling

• AWS fundamentals: ECS, RDS, IAM, Parameter Store

• Experience with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium

• Exposure to SonarQube, CodeQL, or linter setup in a real project

• A technical blog, well-documented projects, or open source contributions

• You use AI coding assistants and can explain every line they produce. We use AI here. What we reject is code whose author cannot explain it

This role is probably not for you if

• You want to build product features and write application code every day

• You need detailed daily instructions before you can start working

• You are not comfortable writing regular updates and documentation

• You are looking for a relaxed experience to put on your CV

How we work

Async-first. No daily standup meetings. You write a short daily update, decisions get documented, and there are two office-hours slots per week for live discussion with the CTO. You set your own hours as long as deliverables and communication hold up.

What you get

• Direct mentorship from the Co-founder & CTO

• Access to a real production system: AWS, Bedrock, Aurora, ECS. Not a simulated project

• A concrete infrastructure portfolio you can show: pipelines, environments, and documentation a real team actually uses

• A recommendation letter and professional reference

• Full support for academic credit conversion (MBKM)

• A path to a paid role for strong performers

Details

• Duration: 3 months
