Job description for Database Administrator at Sagara Technology
We are looking for a Database Administrator responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing database systems to ensure data availability, integrity, security, and performance.
As a Database Administrator, you will ensure database reliability and performance through routine monitoring, maintenance, backup and recovery, and access management. You will also troubleshoot database issues and collaborate with technical teams to maintain stable and secure database operations in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Responsibilities:
- Monitor database performance, availability, and resource utilization.
- Perform database installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning.
- Manage database backup, recovery, and restoration procedures.
- Manage database users, roles, permissions, and access controls.
- Troubleshoot database incidents and ensure timely resolution in accordance with SLAs.
- Maintain database documentation and operational procedures.
- Prepare database monitoring and performance reports and recommend improvements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Database Administrator, Database Engineer, or in a related role.
- Hands-on experience in database installation, configuration, administration, backup, and recovery.
- Strong understanding of relational database management systems (RDBMS), such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Oracle Database.
- Proficiency in SQL, database architecture, indexing, and query optimization.
- Knowledge of database security, access controls, and data protection practices.
- Experience with database monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of database replication and high-availability concepts is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
