Job Overview:
We are looking for a Data Operations Engineer / ETL Developer to join our team and support the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of our data pipelines and ETL systems. This role is open to both entry-level (L1) and mid-level (L2) professionals. You’ll work in a dynamic environment alongside data engineers, analysts, and system administrators to ensure data flows smoothly across platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Common (L1–L2):
- Monitor data workflows and ETL job executions
- Respond to incidents, alerts, and support tickets
- Collaborate with engineering and infrastructure teams to resolve issues
- Document operational procedures, incidents, and resolutions
- Ensure data availability, accuracy, and timeliness for downstream systems
L1 (Entry-Level Responsibilities):
- Perform routine system checks and log reviews
- Handle basic troubleshooting and escalate unresolved issues
- Assist in validating data loads and reporting inconsistencies
- Run ad-hoc SQL queries and provide operational support during shifts
L2 (Mid-Level Responsibilities):
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex data pipeline or job failures
- Modify and maintain ETL workflows (e.g., Ab Initio or similar)
- Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, or similar
- Optimize SQL queries and participate in performance tuning
- Perform root cause analysis and implement fixes to prevent recurrences
Technical Skills:
Required (All Levels):
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in SQL
- Understanding of ETL concepts and data pipelines
- Exposure to Linux/Unix environments
- Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA)
Preferred for Mid-Level (L2):
- Experience with ETL tools like Ab Initio, Informatica, Talend, etc.
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, or Shell scripting
- Experience in job orchestration (e.g., Autosys, Airflow)
- Understanding of data warehousing principles and architecture
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 0–2 years experience for L1 / 2–4+ years experience for L2
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Willingness to work in shifts (L1) or on-call support (L2)
