Cognitive Scientist / Experimenter
Join Reality Detector (Seer) – a deep-tech startup seed funded by Tim Draper and Draper Associates which is building sensors to enhance your senses and creating AI-powered deception and emotion detection technology.

To achieve this, we are building a minimal hardware system to enable contactless sensing and collecting robust datasets to train our novel machine learning algorithms to detect deception. Our initial product market fit is in creating cutting-edge biometrics to enhance travel across borders and protect innocents from harmful lies.
The Cognitive Scientist / Experimenter will be working in a small team including data scientists, software developers and computer vision engineers to design experiments to obtain high quality data sets and conduct robust statistical analyses. There are also opportunities to collaborate with leading researchers and experimenters from Institutes of Higher Learning and the security/defense sectors.
What you’ll do:
●  Conduct literature reviews & research and development in cutting edge topics and techniques in neuroscience and experimental psychology.
Help us shape the research agenda in cognition, physiology and emotions.
●  Design novel experiments to elicit truth tells.
Design robust mock crime experiments that are as ecologically and internally valid as possible.
Perform participant recruitment, prepare and procure experimental materials including but not limited to consent forms, experiment scripts, & props.
Conduct experiments.
Apply statistical analyses to evaluate cues to deception.
●  Prepare applications for IRBs and research papers for publications.
●  Build strategic partnerships with HCI, human factors and psychology labs.
What we need from you:
●  Undergraduate degree in experimental psychology, cognitive science or neuroscience.
●  Experience with conducting cognitive science or psychology experiments preferred.
Knowledge of statistical analysis software (MATLAB, R, SPSS) is preferred.
Experience in credibility assessments in security and risk management is not compulsory but preferred.
