Sparks Sports Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Chess Coach.
This is a part-time position based in Jabodetabek, offering the opportunity to inspire and develop young chess players of various skill levels. As a Chess Coach, you will be instrumental in fostering a love for the game whilst helping students develop critical thinking, strategic planning, and competitive spirit. This role is perfect for someone passionate about chess education and committed to nurturing the next generation of players.
Key responsibilities :
- Plan and deliver engaging chess coaching sessions tailored to students of different age groups and skill levels
- Teach fundamental chess principles, tactics, and strategies in a clear and accessible manner
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development
- Create a positive and encouraging learning environment that motivates students to excel
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
- Collaborate with other coaches and academy staff to ensure programme consistency and quality
- Regularly communicate with parents about their child’s progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
What we're looking for :
- Competitive ches experience at national, provincial, or open-level tournaments: national tities/achievements are preferred
- Alternatively, 3 - 10 years of experience as a competitive chess player
- Experience teaching chess to children around 5 - 15 years is preferred
- Chess coaching certification (e.g,. PNP, PN or equivalent) is preferred
- Strong knowledge of chess opening theory, middle-game strategy, and endgame techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to teach complex concepts simply
- A commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment
