- Run and organize one specific area of the kitchen.
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes within that specialty.
- Set up workstations before service begins.
- Check that all plates look good and taste correct.
- Make sure all food meets safety and health standards.
- Store leftovers correctly so they do not spoil.
- Help the Head Chef and Sous Chef create new recipes.
- Train and supervise junior cooks (Commis).
- Manage kitchen workflow during busy hours.
- Check ingredient stock and report what runs out.
- Watch food portions to stop waste and save money.
- Check expiration dates on ingredients.
