Summary
HonoBono Kissa, part of Chontea & Co., brings the nostalgic charm of the Japanese kissaten to Jimbaran. By day it's a relaxed café built around Hotto Keki, Napolitan pasta and manually brewed coffee; by night it becomes an intimate lounge with classic cocktails, premium whiskey and fine wine, set to jazz and vinyl records. It's a place built around slowing down, listening, sipping and savouring.
As Barista, you will prepare and serve HonoBono's espresso-based and manually brewed coffee to a consistent standard, guide guests through thoughtful recommendations, and help keep the coffee bar running smoothly from open to close.
Job Description
- Prepare and serve espresso-based drinks, manual brew coffee and other café beverages to HonoBono's recipe, presentation and portioning standards
- Calibrate the grinder and brew recipes daily to keep every cup consistent
- Provide knowledgeable, engaging coffee recommendations based on guest preferences
- Handle coffee bar opening and closing procedures, including cleaning and basic maintenance of the espresso machine, grinders and brewing equipment
- Monitor coffee, milk and bar supplies, assist with stock receiving and counts, and flag stock needs to the supervisor or manager
- Minimise wastage and follow food safety and hygiene standards
- Keep up to date on HonoBono's beverage menu, coffee beans, recipes and current promotions
- Work closely with the kitchen and service team, handling guest requests and concerns professionally and escalating when needed
Requirements
- Previous experience as a barista in a café, specialty coffee shop, restaurant or hotel
- Good knowledge of espresso and manual brew methods such as pour-over, plus milk steaming and latte art
- Strong understanding of bar hygiene, mise en place and service standards
- Good communication skills, a positive attitude and a strong guest-service mindset
- Good English communication skills and a genuine passion for coffee
