Job description for Backend Engineer at Redikru
Redikru builds products for job seekers, employers, and the crewing industry. We're hiring a mid-level backend engineer to build dependable systems in Golang and Node.js, make sound architectural decisions, and use AI well in everyday work. There's room to grow into a Full-Stack or Forward Deployed Engineer role as the company grows.
What you'll do:
- Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs in Golang and Node.js (TypeScript), including data models, migrations, integrations, and system architecture.
- Work with PostgreSQL, Redis, job queues, background workers, and SSE, and design for transactions, caching, retries, failure handling, and feature-flagged rollouts.
- Write tests (unit and integration against real infrastructure) and documentation.
- Investigate production issues and improve performance, reliability, security, and observability across Docker, Kubernetes/Helm, AWS S3, OpenSearch, and CI/CD.
- Use AI for exploration, planning, coding, testing, and debugging, and review its output before it ships.
- Make small frontend changes when needed and work with product and operations to solve real business problems.
What we're looking for:
- Backend engineering experience building production REST APIs in Golang and Node.js/TypeScript. Deep in one and comfortable in the other is fine.
- Framework experience such as Gin (Go) or NestJS/Express (Node.js).
- Solid PostgreSQL skills: schema design, transactions, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Experience with Redis, async processing, and failure handling.
- Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, Kubernetes/Helm, cloud infrastructure, and observability.
- Good judgment on system design, testing, and security, plus clear communication.
- Pluses: React, gRPC.
