Job description for Backend Developer (Kotlin/ Quarkus) at TenX Technology
Who We're Looking For:
We are looking for a Backend Developer focused on building high-performance APIs and transaction-processing services for financial systems. The platform is designed to handle hundreds of transactions per second (TPS), requiring low latency, efficient concurrency, reliability, and predictable performance under sustained load.
Minimum Requirements:
- Kotlin + Quarkus: strong backend development experience using reactive architecture.
- JVM & GraalVM: understand JVM mode, Native Image, performance and operational trade-offs.
- RabbitMQ: queues, exchanges, ACK/NACK, QoS/prefetch, DLQ, retry, consumer concurrency and long-lived connections.
- Redis: practical knowledge including Lua scripting, Sorted Sets, TTL, atomic operations and concurrency use cases.
- Databases: MongoDB and MySQL/PostgreSQL; transactions, indexing, locking, query optimization and connection pooling.
- Parallel Processing: practical experience with async processing, multithreading, concurrency, thread pools and race-condition handling.
- Performance: experience designing and optimizing low-latency APIs and services under high concurrent transaction load.
- Observability: experience with Sentry for exception monitoring, tracing and contextual error reporting.
- Reliability: idempotency, retries, timeouts, graceful shutdown, reconnection and failure recovery.
- Location & Availability: Based in or around Bandung, with the ability to attend meetings or work onsite in Bandung occasionally when required.
What We Value:
We want engineers who understand more than CRUD APIs, especially how financial systems behave under high concurrency, sustained load, duplicate messages, race conditions, partial failures and long-running operation. Performance and correctness are equally important.
Nice to Have:
Experience integrating with Cloud HSM (Hardware Security Module), including key management and cryptographic operations.
