Job Description
Under the SGUnited Traineeship and Mid-Career Pathways Programme, H Tyre is hiring for the role of Automotive Mechanic. This position reports to the Manager and interfaces with other mechanics and service staff. The duration of the traineeship will be 9 months.The candidate will be provided with the
following:
- 7 Days Annual Leave (Pro-rated)
- 7 Days Medical Leave (Pro-rated)
- Overtime Pay: 1.5 times the hourly basic rate of pay in excess of the normal hours of work
- Annual work performance bonus
- Lunch is provided
- Working Hours: Monday to Saturday – 9am – 6pm.
NOT REQUIRED TO WORK ON SUNDAY OR PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform routine automotive maintenance tasks, including:
- Oil changes
- Tyre rotations
- Transmission flushes
- Air conditioner re-charges
- Wheel alignments
- Battery installations
- Headlight/taillight installations
- Vehicle spare parts.
- Interact with customers to obtain information about the problems they are experiencing with their vehicle.
- Inspecting vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
- Maintain workshop equipment and tools in good condition.
- Willingness to learn with hands-on training.
- Clean and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
- Provide professional advice for appropriate repairs, servicing, technical assistance and provide great customer service.
- Arrangement of inventory and stock take.
- Learn and understand range of services and brands that are offered at our workshop, including tyres, rims, battery, engine oil, car grooming, brakes system etc.
- Engage in learning opportunities to update job knowledge and technical skills.
- Learn to use workshop equipment and tools as instructed including impact wrench, torque wrench, tyre changer, wheel balancer, orbital polisher, wheel alignment equipment.
- Complete vehicle maintenance and repair works on vehicles, such as performing oil changes, flushing and replacing fluids, brakes, tyres and vehicle spare parts.
- Manage inventory including arrangement of goods and stock take. Ensure that stocks that are acquired first are sold off first.
- Work with service advisor and other mechanics to diagnose and repair the mechanical and electrical components of vehicles.
- To learn how to listen to customer concerns and communicate effectively and in a professional manner to explain repairs works.
- To learn how to use advanced diagnostics systems and work with vehicle electronics
- Diploma in Automotive Engineering
- Fresh graduates: Graduated in calendar year 2019 or 2020 from the Institute of Technical Education, Polytechnics of Autonomous Universities.
- Candidates who have completed National service in Calendar year 2019 or 2020
- Mid – Career Individuals: At least 1 year of experience in the relevant field
