Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Automation Engineer role based in Bandung. The Automation Engineer will design, develop, and implement automation industry solutions that combine IoT sensing, robotics, and AI-based computer vision for manufacturing and industrial clients to improve efficiency. Day-to-day tasks include real deployments — cycle-time monitoring, presence/object detection, robotic process integration — not research projects, and performing root-cause analysis for technical issues. The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, preparing technical documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in line with company standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, and commission automation systems integrating PLCs, IoT devices, sensors, and industrial cameras
• Deploy and tune AI vision models (YOLO, OpenCV-based pipelines) for tasks like object detection, presence detection, and cycle-time measurement
• Integrate vision system outputs with industrial control systems (PLC, SCADA, MES) and IoT platforms
• Configure and troubleshoot industrial PCs, cameras, and edge computing hardware
• Support field deployments and client handovers (documentation, BAST, training)
• Collaborate with clients to scope automation/CV use cases and translate them into working systems

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years hands-on experience with industrial automation (PLC programming, SCADA, sensors/actuators)
• Working knowledge of computer vision libraries (OpenCV, YOLO/Ultralytics, or similar) — able to deploy and tune pre-trained models, not necessarily train from scratch
• Experience with IoT protocols (MQTT, Modbus, OPC-UA)
• Comfortable with Python for integration scripting
• Willing to travel for on-site deployment and commissioning
• Ability to work on-site in Bandung, collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and communicate clearly in written and spoken English and Indonesian.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with industrial cameras and edge AI hardware (Jetson, industrial PC + GPU setups)
• Familiarity with robotics integration (AMR/AGV, robotic arms)
• Prior experience in manufacturing environments (automotive, electronics, textile)
• Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving automation and control system issues.
• Proficiency in process control, including configuring and optimizing control loops and industrial control systems.
• Knowledge of robotics integration, operation, and maintenance in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Familiarity with industry safety standards and best practices for industrial automation systems.
