10 selected candidates will work closely with and be mentored by highly experienced finance professionals throughout the course of the internship. In addition, interns can look forward to an all-expenses-paid learning journey to a fast-growing Southeast Asia country with a booming fintech scene.

What You Will Learn

Receive hands-on training and mentorship

Looking to acquire valuable skills & knowledge? As a Silverlake Axis Internship Program Intern, you will be assigned to a mentor & a buddy. You can look forward to leverage on your mentor’s wealth of knowledge & experience to nurture an understanding of fintech, the business operations of Silverlake Axis and the requisite competencies. You can also look forward to receive help from your buddy to understand the granular intricacies of day-to-day operations, and filling in any knowledge/skills gap that you may otherwise have.

Gain overseas exposure

An overseas learning journey would be one of the highlights of your Silverlake Axis Internship Program journey. We will give you the opportunity to visit FinTech, financial & technology companies in Malaysia or Indonesia to better understand the SEA startup ecosystem. In addition, you can look forward to the opportunity to bond and form lasting friendships with other fellow interns. An accompanying staff member of Silverlake Axis would also provide further avenues for informal interaction and enduring connections.

Project #1: THE IMPACT OF AUTONOMOUS CARS ON INSURANCE

With the rapid rise of autonomous vehicles on roads, in the event of accident, who is to blame? How can insurers utilise the data collected from in-vehicle technology? Find out if autonomous vehicles are a boon or bane to the insurers, and propose actionable plans to ride the trend!

Project #2: MINIMISING FRAUD IN MOTOR INSURANCE

1 out of 5 motor insurance claims are fraudulent, accounting for more than S$140M in claim costs. As a result, the vast majority of honest customers end up paying for the dishonesty of the few through higher insurance premiums. Combat this problem by improving insurance fraud detection!

Project #3: RISK ANALYSIS ON INSURANCE CLAIMS

How can high-risk claims be identified pre-emptively? With troves of data available on the insurance claims made by Merimen (under Silverlake Axis), look forward to develop predictive data models to reduce risk!

Requirements

• University / Polytechnic students from all disciplines and background (both tech & non-tech)
• Analytical, problem solving and creative skills are a must have
• Knowledge, curiosity, and enthusiasm for the fintech sector
• Ability to commit full-time to a minimum duration 10 weeks - 24 weeks, depending on your academic schedule.
• A positive attitude with the ability to thrive in a team environment

The following are good-to-have project-specific skills:

• Proficiency in programming in preferably Adobe Coldfusion (or PHP/ asp.net) for web server, MS SQL for database, Html/Html5/Javascript/Jquery/CSS/ bootstrap for front end and any charting libraries i.e. Plotly
• Proficiency in programming in Python and R or other statistical computing languages
• Fluency in at least 1 big data platform, e.g. Hadoop, Mapreduce, Hive, Spark
