Description

During the World Economic Forum (WEF) Summit in East Asia, which was held in Jakarta in June 2011, the need for a public-private partnership platform to address the issues facing Indonesia’s agriculture sector was expressed by Bayu Krisnamurthi, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Mahendra Siregar Vice Minister of Trade. This initiative by the Indonesian Government was quickly supported by seven private companies: Bayer CropScience, Indofood, McKinsey, Nestlé, Sinar Mas, Syngenta and Unilever, who came together and founded the Partnership for Indonesia’s Sustainable Agriculture (PISAgro).

Subsequently, PISAgro was formally established and legalized by a public notary with the Indonesian name “Asosiasi Kemitraan Pertanian Berkelanjutan Indonesia” on April 20, 2012. In 2015, it joined Grow Asia – a WEF and ASEAN Secretariat multi-stakeholder platform established as a regional coordinating body for national-level agriculture public-private partnerships - as the official Country Partnership in Indonesia. Grow Asia leverages its global and regional networks and expertise to achieve impact in Indonesia.
